GV: Gift Cards & Store Credit vs Subi: Subscriptions & Loyaltyfor Shopify (2026)
GV: Gift Cards & Store Credit and Subi: Subscriptions & Loyalty are both Shopify apps aimed at enhancing customer loyalty, but they approach the problem from fundamentally different angles. GV focuses primarily on leveraging gift cards and store credit as tools to attract new customers, boost cash flow, and incentivize repeat purchases. Its strengths lie in customizable gift card designs, scheduling options, personalized gift messaging (including video), and bulk issuance capabilities. Subi, on the other hand, is an all-in-one solution for subscriptions and loyalty programs. It targets merchants looking to establish recurring revenue streams through subscription boxes, memberships, and other subscription models, alongside traditional loyalty points and rewards systems. Subi offers a more comprehensive suite of features for long-term customer retention through subscriptions and memberships, providing a self-service portal for subscribers, flexible billing options, and smart dunning. GV focuses on the immediacy and flexibility of gift cards and store credit, making it appealing to merchants who want a quick way to boost sales and reward customers. The target audiences differ as well; GV is suited for businesses that want to use gift cards as a primary marketing tool, while Subi is tailored for those seeking a more involved, recurring revenue model built on subscriptions and comprehensive loyalty programs.

Our Verdict
For merchants looking to quickly generate revenue and acquire new customers through gift cards and store credit, GV: Gift Cards & Store Credit is the more appropriate choice. Its customization options, scheduling features, and video messaging capabilities allow for a personalized and engaging gift card experience. However, for merchants aiming to build a sustainable recurring revenue model through subscriptions, memberships, and comprehensive loyalty programs, Subi: Subscriptions & Loyalty is the clear winner. Its robust subscription management tools, flexible membership tiers, and loyalty points system provide a holistic approach to customer retention and long-term growth.
While both apps address customer loyalty, they do so through different mechanisms. Subi's higher rating and significantly larger number of reviews suggest greater overall satisfaction and potentially a more feature-rich experience, making it a stronger all-around choice for merchants committed to building a subscription-based business.
