Our Verdict
DigitalGenius, while promising, lacks validation from user reviews. It's a higher-risk option suited for merchants willing to experiment with AI-driven customer service automation and who have the resources to implement deep integrations. Its potential benefits are substantial if the AI performs as advertised.
Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is the safer bet for most Shopify merchants focused on immediately increasing revenue. Its high rating and large number of reviews indicate a reliable and user-friendly solution for implementing proven upsell and cross-sell strategies. Smaller stores, in particular, will likely find its feature set immediately beneficial and easy to implement.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is likely easier to set up and use, given its high rating and positive reviews. DigitalGenius, with its AI and deep integrations, may require more technical expertise.
Which app is more focused on increasing revenue?
Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is directly focused on increasing revenue through upselling and cross-selling. DigitalGenius aims to improve conversions and LTV, which indirectly contributes to revenue.
Which app is better for a store with a high volume of customer inquiries?
DigitalGenius, in theory, is designed to handle a high volume of customer inquiries through AI automation, but its lack of reviews makes it difficult to assess its effectiveness. If proven, it would be superior. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is irrelevant for this purpose.

The primary risk of choosing DigitalGenius is its lack of reviews. It's difficult to gauge its performance, reliability, and ease of use. The AI may not perform as expected, or the integrations may be complex to implement.
Could both apps be used together?
Potentially, yes. DigitalGenius could handle customer service inquiries, while Essential Upsell & Cross Sell could work on increasing AOV. However, it's crucial to assess if the cost and complexity of managing both apps are justified by the potential benefits.
