COD Toolkit by Breeze vs EG Auto Add to Cart Free Giftfor Shopify (2026)
COD Toolkit by Breeze and EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift are both 5-star rated apps available on the Shopify App Store, but they address entirely different needs within the checkout and post-checkout flow. COD Toolkit focuses on providing merchants with granular control over their Cash on Delivery (COD) payment option. It aims to reduce risk and improve the customer experience by allowing for customizable rules for COD availability based on location, order price, and other conditions. EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift, on the other hand, is designed to boost sales through free gift promotions, Buy-One-Get-One (BOGO) offers, and other cart upsell strategies. The key difference lies in their objectives: COD Toolkit is about mitigating risk and enhancing control over a payment method, while EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift focuses on driving sales and increasing average order value. Consequently, their target audiences are distinct. COD Toolkit is most appealing to merchants who heavily rely on COD and need to manage it efficiently. EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift is geared towards merchants seeking to increase sales through promotional offers and add-on incentives. The significant difference in the number of reviews (14 vs. 762) suggests that EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift has a more established presence and wider user base, but this does not necessarily equate to it being better; it simply reflects different market penetration for distinct functionalities.

If your priority is efficiently managing COD payments, reducing risks associated with COD orders, and customizing the customer's COD experience, then COD Toolkit is the clear choice. Its features are laser-focused on this specific payment method. However, if your primary goal is to boost sales through promotional offers, cart upsells, and free gifts, EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift is the more suitable option. It is designed to incentivize purchases and increase order values through strategic giveaways and bundle deals. Common Questions
Can both apps be used together in a Shopify store?
Yes, as they address completely separate aspects of the checkout and post-checkout process, there's no inherent conflict in using both. One manages payments, the other manages promotions.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift explicitly claims to have a 'super simple UI', suggesting a focus on ease of use. COD Toolkit's setup likely involves defining rules for COD availability, which might require some planning but should be relatively straightforward given the focused functionality.
Which app is better for reducing abandoned carts?
While neither directly addresses cart abandonment, EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift's promotional offers might indirectly reduce abandonment by incentivizing customers to complete their purchase. COD Toolkit's customized COD experience might also help if cart abandonment is related to distrust of COD payment options.
Is either app suitable for stores that don't offer Cash on Delivery?
COD Toolkit is explicitly designed for stores that use COD; it would be irrelevant for those that don't. EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift is suitable for any store looking to increase sales through promotions, regardless of payment options.
Which app offers better long-term value?
The long-term value of each app depends on your business strategy. If you plan to continue offering and optimizing COD, COD Toolkit provides ongoing value. If you consistently run promotions and upsell offers, EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift will provide sustained value in driving sales.
