Shipping Protection —Shipcheck vs UpCharge Fees Addons Surchargefor Shopify (2026)
Shipping Protection — Shipcheck and UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge both offer ways to increase revenue beyond the base price of products, but they cater to different needs. Shipcheck focuses specifically on enabling merchants to offer their own shipping protection, allowing them to retain revenue that would otherwise go to third-party insurance providers. It's positioned as a way to build customer trust and offset costs related to lost, damaged, or stolen packages. UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge, on the other hand, provides a broader toolkit for adding various fees and surcharges, addressing scenarios like rush delivery, special handling, location-based tariffs, and even product add-ons. Shipcheck seems ideal for merchants prioritizing shipping-related customer satisfaction and cost recovery. It aims to transform potential shipping liabilities into a revenue stream. UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge targets merchants with diverse fee requirements beyond just shipping protection. Its strength lies in its flexibility and ability to implement complex, condition-based surcharges, particularly for those on Shopify Plus needing checkout-level fee control. While both apps fall under the “Upsell and cross-sell” category, their approaches and core functionalities are vastly different.
