Shipping Protection —Shipcheck vs Stateset Returns Automationfor Shopify (2026)
Shipping Protection —Shipcheck and Stateset Returns Automation, while both falling under the 'Returns and warranty' Shopify category, cater to vastly different needs within a Shopify store. Shipcheck focuses on proactive revenue generation and risk mitigation related to shipping issues. It allows merchants to create their own shipping protection program, charging customers for insurance and keeping the profits, aiming to offset costs associated with lost, damaged, or stolen packages. Stateset, conversely, addresses the reactive side of returns management. It's designed to automate and streamline the returns process after a customer initiates a return, targeting improvements in customer service and warehouse efficiency. Our Verdict
Shipping Protection —Shipcheck is the better choice for merchants who want to proactively manage shipping-related risks and generate extra revenue by offering shipping protection to their customers. Its focus on upfront charges and risk offset makes it suitable for businesses concerned about potential losses from shipping issues. Stateset Returns Automation, while lacking reviews, is geared towards businesses that already experience a significant volume of returns and are looking to automate the entire returns process. It requires integration with customer service platforms like Zendesk or Gorgias and is intended for merchants who prioritize efficient returns management and improved customer satisfaction in the post-purchase phase. Given the lack of any reviews for Stateset, Shipcheck appears to be a safer and more proven option as of 2026.
