Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a quick and easy win to improve navigation on long pages, Root Scroll | Scroll To Top is a low-risk option. It's ideal for stores with simpler catalogs and a focus on basic usability. However, the lack of reviews raises a red flag, and its true performance is uncertain.
Search & Discovery ‑ Visely is the clear choice for stores aiming for serious growth and enhanced customer experience through intelligent search and product discovery. The high rating and positive reviews indicate strong performance and customer satisfaction. While it may require more initial investment and setup effort, the potential return on investment through increased sales and user engagement makes it a worthwhile consideration for larger and more ambitious Shopify businesses.
Common Questions
What problem does each app solve?
Root Scroll aims to solve the problem of users having to manually scroll back to the top of long pages. Visely aims to solve the problem of users struggling to find desired products on your site due to poor search functionality and lack of personalized recommendations.
Is coding required for either app?
Root Scroll explicitly states that no coding is required. Visely does not explicitly mention coding requirements, but its 'white-glove service' suggests that theme integration might benefit from expert assistance.
Which app is better for a brand new Shopify store?
Root Scroll could be beneficial to a new store as it's a simple addition to improve user experience. However, the lack of reviews makes it a risky choice. Visely might be overkill for a brand new store with a small catalog. Prioritize basic setup and product presentation before investing in advanced search features.
How do the apps impact store speed?
Root Scroll claims to be optimized for speed with minified code. Visely's description doesn't directly address speed, but poor implementation of complex search and filtering could potentially impact store performance, so careful setup is crucial.
Do these apps overlap in functionality?
There's minimal overlap. Both fall under the 'Search and navigation' category, but Visely handles the 'search' aspect comprehensively, while Root Scroll focuses solely on 'navigation' to the top of the page. They address completely different aspects of the user experience.
