Report Toaster: Custom Reports vs Upstack: Site Intelligencefor Shopify (2026)
Report Toaster: Custom Reports and Upstack: Site Intelligence, while both categorized under Shopify Analytics, cater to distinct needs within the e-commerce ecosystem. Report Toaster focuses on providing comprehensive, customizable reporting across a merchant's entire store data. It emphasizes creating and automating reports, using real-time data, and sharing insights across teams. Upstack, on the other hand, concentrates on enhancing server-side data quality, fixing attribution issues, and improving multi-channel attribution reports, particularly for advertising platforms like Meta and TikTok. The core difference lies in their focus. Report Toaster aims to empower merchants with deep insights into their sales, inventory, and other store data through customized reports, while Upstack aims to improve the accuracy of advertising data for better campaign performance. This divergence shapes their features, target audiences, and overall value propositions. While both apps can improve a merchant's bottom line, they do so through different avenues: one through improved business insights and the other through optimized ad spend.

Our Verdict
Choosing between Report Toaster and Upstack depends heavily on a merchant's priorities. If the primary need is to gain a deeper understanding of sales trends, inventory management, and overall store performance through customized reports and data analysis, Report Toaster is the clear choice. Its ability to create, schedule, and share reports makes it ideal for data-driven decision-making across various departments.
However, for merchants primarily focused on optimizing their paid advertising campaigns, particularly on platforms like Meta and TikTok, Upstack is the more suitable option. Its focus on improving attribution accuracy, bypassing iOS 14 restrictions, and enhancing server-side event tracking can lead to significant improvements in ROAS and CPA. Upstack is essential for any business heavily invested in performance marketing.
