Releasit COD Form & Upsells vs UpCharge Fees Addons Surchargefor Shopify (2026)
Releasit COD Form & Upsells and UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge both operate within the Shopify upsell/cross-sell space, but cater to distinct needs. Releasit, boasting a significantly higher rating (4.9/5) and a large volume of reviews (1788), likely focuses on streamlining the Cash on Delivery (COD) process with integrated upsell opportunities. This suggests a strong emphasis on boosting revenue through strategic product suggestions during the COD order flow. Its high rating and review count indicate user satisfaction with its COD-specific functionality. In contrast, UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge, with a lower rating (4.4/5) and fewer reviews (108), positions itself as a comprehensive solution for managing various fees, surcharges, and tariffs. Its key features focus on applying conditional fees based on product, location, payment method (Shopify Plus), or other criteria. This suggests a target audience seeking granular control over pricing and cost recovery, especially merchants needing to account for factors like rush delivery, special handling, or international tariffs. While it lacks the high user rating of Releasit, it offers a specialized toolset for detailed fee management.

Our Verdict
For merchants heavily reliant on Cash on Delivery and primarily focused on increasing average order value (AOV) through upsells, Releasit COD Form & Upsells is likely the better choice. Its high rating and large user base suggest a reliable and user-friendly solution. The focus on COD optimization directly addresses the needs of businesses using this payment method.
However, if a merchant requires granular control over fees, surcharges, and tariffs based on various conditions (product, location, payment method (Shopify Plus)), UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge provides a more comprehensive feature set. While its rating is lower, its specialized functionality is invaluable for businesses operating in complex regulatory environments or offering a wide range of services requiring additional fees. Shopify Plus merchants in particular benefit from its payment & shipping method-based fees feature.
