PWC: Favicon Tab Animation vs Section Star: Theme Sectionsfor Shopify (2026)
PWC: Favicon Tab Animation and Section Star: Theme Sections both aim to enhance the Shopify store experience, but they tackle entirely different aspects. Favicon Tab Animation focuses on re-engaging users who have navigated away from the store's tab, using visual and textual cues to draw them back. Section Star, conversely, provides pre-designed theme sections to improve the overall aesthetic and functionality of the storefront itself. The primary difference lies in their application. Favicon Tab Animation offers a targeted solution for cart abandonment and increasing engagement from idle users, best suited for stores experiencing these issues. Section Star provides a broader approach, enhancing design and functionality store-wide for merchants aiming to create a professionally designed aesthetic or add specific elements like countdown timers without coding expertise. The target audience differs vastly; PWC aims at merchants with cart abandonment woes, while Section Star aims at the merchant who needs to improve the aesthetic of their store, but does not have the money for, or ability to code, a custom store design.

Our Verdict
If you're looking to specifically combat cart abandonment and recapture the attention of idle users, PWC: Favicon Tab Animation is the more focused choice. Its features are designed to directly address this issue. However, if you're aiming for a broader overhaul of your store's design, or need features like slideshows or countdown timers, and lack coding expertise, Section Star: Theme Sections provides a more comprehensive solution.
The significantly higher number of reviews for Section Star suggests it's a more widely adopted solution, implying greater perceived value and perhaps a more robust feature set (though this cannot be definitively concluded based solely on review count). For merchants prioritizing visual design enhancements over specific cart abandonment tactics, Section Star is the stronger recommendation.
Common Questions
Which app requires coding knowledge?
Neither app explicitly requires coding knowledge. Section Star emphasizes its no-code customization feature, while PWC's simple functionality likely avoids the need for coding.
Does PWC: Favicon Tab Animation improve store design?
Indirectly. While it doesn't add theme sections, the customized favicon and tab title can enhance the overall user experience and perceived polish of the store.
Can Section Star help with cart abandonment?
Potentially. Features like countdown timers could create a sense of urgency and encourage immediate purchase, but it's not a direct cart abandonment solution like PWC.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store?
Section Star is likely the better choice for a new store looking to quickly establish a professional design. PWC is better suited for established stores looking to refine their sales funnel.
Which app offers more customization options?
Section Star likely offers more customization options due to its broader scope in providing full theme sections, each modifiable to match the store's brand. PWC's customization is limited to the favicon animation and tab text.
