Product Samples by Luke vs Sales Geniusfor Shopify (2026)
Product Samples by Luke and Sales Genius both aim to enhance sales for Shopify merchants through pricing strategies, but they address distinct aspects of the customer journey. Product Samples by Luke focuses on reducing customer uncertainty by offering product samples, thereby lowering returns and potentially increasing average order value through customer confidence. It targets merchants who sell products where tactile experience or suitability confirmation is important, and the app's core value proposition is centered on risk reduction and customer satisfaction through sample availability. The small sample size for reviews, may be indicative of a lack of broad adoption, or that it is a newer app. Sales Genius, on the other hand, emphasizes personalized pricing strategies for diverse customer segments. It enables merchants to create targeted discounts, private sales, and B2B catalogs, aiming to optimize revenue by tailoring pricing to individual customer needs and market segments. It caters to merchants seeking granular control over pricing, offering features like bulk discount importing and testing functionalities. Sales Genius seems like a good app, with good functionality but a small number of reviews. While both apps share the 'Pricing' and 'Pricing quotes' categories on Shopify, their approaches differ significantly. Product Samples by Luke aims to influence the pre-purchase decision by enabling product trials, while Sales Genius focuses on optimizing pricing tactics to drive conversions and maximize revenue once a customer is already considering a purchase.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants primarily concerned with reducing product returns and building customer trust by offering product samples, Product Samples by Luke is likely the more suitable option. Its focused functionality suggests ease of use and addresses a specific pain point. However, the lower number of reviews should be considered. For merchants seeking a comprehensive solution for personalized pricing strategies, including tailored discounts, B2B catalogs, and bulk import capabilities, Sales Genius is the better choice. While both apps cater to pricing related concerns, their target areas are different.
