OpenFiskal TSE & RKSV for POS vs SubZero Store Locatorfor Shopify (2026)
OpenFiskal TSE & RKSV for POS and SubZero Store Locator are both Shopify apps in the 'Selling in person' category, but they cater to vastly different needs. OpenFiskal targets merchants in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH region) needing to comply with specific fiscal regulations (KassenSichV and RKSV) for their Point of Sale (POS) systems. It focuses on secure receipt signing, Z-report generation, and accounting integrations to meet local legal requirements. SubZero Store Locator, on the other hand, is designed for merchants with physical store locations or stockists. It aims to enhance online visibility and drive foot traffic to these locations by providing a searchable store locator map and SEO-optimized location pages. The primary distinction lies in their purpose. OpenFiskal is a compliance tool, ensuring merchants in the DACH region operate legally with their POS system. SubZero is a marketing and customer experience tool, helping customers find physical stores and improving local SEO. OpenFiskal has positive user feedback, indicated by its 5/5 rating and 37 reviews, while SubZero currently lacks user reviews, presenting a riskier proposition for potential users, but potentially an untapped gem.

Our Verdict
If you are a Shopify POS merchant operating in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland and need to comply with KassenSichV and RKSV regulations, OpenFiskal TSE & RKSV for POS is the clear choice. Its features are specifically designed to meet these legal requirements. The existing positive reviews provide some assurance of its functionality and support.
However, if your priority is to enhance the online visibility of your physical store locations and drive more foot traffic, SubZero Store Locator is worth considering. While it currently lacks reviews, its features are geared towards improving local SEO and providing a user-friendly store locator. The inclusion of map credits eliminates the hassle of managing third-party keys. Merchants should carefully evaluate SubZero's performance and support before committing, given the absence of user feedback. Ultimately, the choice depends entirely on the specific needs of the merchant.
