Notifications by Modd Apps vs ZigChatfor Shopify (2026)
Notifications by Modd Apps and ZigChat are Shopify apps targeting different aspects of merchant operations, both sharing the 'Web push' category. Notifications by Modd Apps focuses on automating internal and external communications and store object modifications based on triggered events. It appears geared towards merchants needing complex workflow automation triggered by store events, using Liquid for customization, and sending information to various stakeholders like staff, suppliers, and customers. It also provides file transfer capabilities via FTP, likely targeting merchants with more complex supply chains. It is positioned as a workflow and notification engine. ZigChat, on the other hand, concentrates on revolutionizing customer communication through chat automation, particularly via WhatsApp but also supporting SMS, Instagram, and Facebook. It seems to target merchants looking to enhance customer engagement, streamline inquiries, and manage orders through automated chat processes. With features like template management, campaign automation, and workflow optimization, it caters to businesses seeking to elevate their chat experiences and stay competitive via omnichannel support. Its focus is primarily customer facing via chat channels. Its lack of ratings and reviews at this point makes assessing its real-world performance difficult, especially when compared to Notifications by Modd Apps.

Our Verdict
Notifications by Modd Apps is likely better suited for merchants who need advanced workflow automation and are comfortable with Liquid coding to customize their processes. This could include businesses with complex supply chains, multiple vendors, or internal teams that need automated notifications and file transfers. It is a more mature app as evidenced by its user rating and number of reviews.
ZigChat is more appropriate for merchants who prioritize improving customer engagement and managing communications across multiple chat channels. If customer service and sales through chat are critical, and ease of use with pre-built templates is important, ZigChat is a better fit - *if* it can deliver on its claims once it gains user traction. The lack of ratings at present introduces substantial risk.
