Mercuri WhatsApp SMS Marketing vs Ting ‑ Slack Notificationsfor Shopify (2026)
Mercuri WhatsApp SMS Marketing and Ting ‑ Slack Notifications are both 5-star rated Shopify apps in the 'Staff notifications' category, but they serve fundamentally different purposes. Mercuri focuses on customer communication through WhatsApp and SMS marketing, enabling merchants to engage directly with customers for promotions, updates, and support. Ting, on the other hand, prioritizes internal team communication by delivering Shopify order notifications and reports directly to Slack channels. This allows teams to monitor store performance and order activity in real-time. Mercuri's strength lies in its potential for direct customer engagement and marketing automation. Ting's advantage is its streamlined approach to internal team awareness and collaboration around order fulfillment and sales data. The choice between the two depends entirely on whether the merchant's primary need is enhancing customer communication or improving internal operational visibility.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants aiming to boost sales and engagement through direct customer interaction, Mercuri WhatsApp SMS Marketing is likely the better choice. If your team heavily relies on Slack and you need to centralize order notifications and performance data for improved internal communication and efficiency, Ting ‑ Slack Notifications is the superior option.
Given the significantly higher number of reviews for Ting (13 vs 5), it suggests a potentially broader appeal or longer presence in the market, lending a degree of confidence to its stability and effectiveness. However, both apps are 5-star rated, indicating user satisfaction within their respective niches. Evaluate which aspect of your business requires more attention - customer engagement or internal operations - and choose accordingly.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Ting ‑ Slack Notifications claims a "Simple one click setup," suggesting a faster and more straightforward installation process compared to Mercuri WhatsApp SMS Marketing, which likely involves more configuration related to WhatsApp and SMS integrations.
Which app is better for increasing sales?
Mercuri WhatsApp SMS Marketing is more directly aimed at increasing sales through targeted marketing campaigns and direct customer engagement. Ting ‑ Slack Notifications indirectly supports sales by improving operational efficiency, but its primary function is internal communication.
If my team doesn't use Slack, is Ting ‑ Slack Notifications useful?
No. Ting ‑ Slack Notifications is specifically designed to deliver notifications and reports within Slack. Without an active Slack workspace, the app is completely useless.
Does Mercuri WhatsApp SMS Marketing support sending order notifications?
While not explicitly stated, it's possible Mercuri WhatsApp SMS Marketing can be configured to send order notifications via WhatsApp/SMS, although its primary focus seems to be broader marketing campaigns. This would require further investigation.
Are both apps suitable for all Shopify store sizes?
Potentially, yes. The descriptions do not indicate any limitations based on store size. However, the value proposition of Ting (real-time slack notifications) probably scales up faster in value for larger sales teams that have people dedicated to monitoring/fulfilling orders.
