Magical Fees & Tariffs vs UpCharge Fees Addons Surchargefor Shopify (2026)
Magical Fees & Tariffs and UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge are both Shopify apps designed to help merchants add fees, surcharges, and tariffs to their products and orders. They cater to merchants who need to account for various additional costs, such as bottle deposits, eco fees, credit card processing fees, and international tariffs. Magical Fees & Tariffs emphasizes simplicity and ease of use, aiming to provide a straightforward fee builder with flexible rules and prominent display of fees throughout the customer journey, including product pages. UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge, on the other hand, positions itself as a more comprehensive solution with unlimited product fees and specific features for Shopify Plus users like payment & shipping method-based fees at checkout. The key difference lies in their target audience and complexity. Its focus on transparency and clear fee display makes it suitable for businesses prioritizing customer trust. UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge targets businesses with more complex fee structures or those on Shopify Plus who require advanced features like payment method-based fees. The higher review count suggests it might be a more established solution, but the lower rating could indicate a steeper learning curve or greater complexity in setup and usage.

Our Verdict
For smaller Shopify merchants seeking a straightforward and easy-to-use solution for adding common fees and surcharges, Magical Fees & Tariffs is likely the better choice. Its higher rating and emphasis on friendly support suggest a positive user experience. The focus on displaying fees transparently is also a strong selling point for building customer trust.
However, if you are a Shopify Plus merchant with complex fee structures, requiring features like payment method-based fees, or need to add an unlimited number of fees, UpCharge Fees Addons Surcharge is the more suitable option. Despite its slightly lower rating, the larger number of reviews and feature set indicates a more comprehensive solution. Consider that the complexity may require more initial setup and learning.
