Leafledger Tree Planting vs W3 Share The Lovefor Shopify (2026)
Leafledger Tree Planting and W3 Share The Love both operate within the 'Donations' category on Shopify, but they cater to distinct merchant needs. Leafledger focuses on automated, demonstrable environmental action by planting trees with each order (or every 10), offering immediate impact and verifiable results through Veritree integration. It's positioned as a tool for building trust and boosting sales through a commitment to sustainability. Its target audience includes merchants eager to showcase eco-friendliness prominently. W3 Share The Love, in contrast, empowers merchants to curate a selection of causes they wish to support, allowing customers to choose which cause resonates with them during checkout. This strengthens brand alignment with specific values and builds a loyal customer base. It emphasizes the merchant's ability to effect change in areas important to them and their customers, offering flexibility in selecting supported causes and donation amounts. The apps differ primarily in the nature of the cause supported (environmental vs. general) and who makes the specific choice (merchant-driven automation vs. customer selection).

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with environmental impact and seeking a hands-off, easily verifiable solution, Leafledger Tree Planting is a potentially strong choice, especially with its offer of 100 free trees to start. However, the lack of reviews is a significant drawback. Merchants should closely monitor its development and any available user feedback before committing.
W3 Share The Love is better suited for merchants who want to offer their customers a say in where a portion of their purchase goes, allowing for alignment with customer values and fostering loyalty. The positive reviews and the flexibility of selecting causes and donation amounts make it a more established and potentially safer option, provided the merchant wants to actively curate the causes they support.
Common Questions
Which app provides more control over the supported cause?
W3 Share The Love provides significantly more control, allowing the merchant to choose the specific causes from a list they create, rather than being limited to tree planting.

Leafledger Tree Planting claims 'one-click store integration,' suggesting a simpler setup process, while W3 Share The Love requires creating a list of causes and setting donation amounts, potentially involving more initial configuration.
Which app offers verifiable proof of impact?
Leafledger Tree Planting offers Veritree verification and real-time tracking of tree planting, providing more direct and potentially compelling proof of environmental impact. W3 Share The Love offers reports on cause selection but doesn't directly verify the impact of donations.
Which app is better for building brand loyalty?
W3 Share The Love is arguably better for building brand loyalty, as it allows customers to directly participate in selecting a cause that resonates with them, fostering a stronger connection between the customer, the cause, and the brand.
Which app is riskier to implement, given the available data?
Leafledger Tree Planting carries a higher risk due to the lack of reviews and its 'Open Beta' status. W3 Share The Love, with its positive reviews, seems like a more reliable choice based solely on the provided data.
