Our Verdict
The choice between Lamnia ‑ SKU Generator and Scan2Sell hinges on the specific challenge a merchant faces. If the primary issue is disorganized or inconsistent SKUs across numerous product variants, Lamnia is the clear choice. It offers a systematic approach to SKU creation, which can significantly improve inventory management. However, if the bottleneck is the time-consuming process of getting physical products online – particularly for merchants dealing with large catalogs sourced from multiple suppliers – Scan2Sell's barcode scanning and mass upload capabilities offer a compelling advantage. While Scan2Sell has a perfect rating, the review count for both apps is very low, so further investigation of more established apps might be warranted for a long term solution.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, Scan2Sell's barcode scanning interface might offer a more intuitive and rapid setup, particularly for merchants familiar with scanning processes. Lamnia requires configuration of attributes for SKU generation, which could be a more complex initial setup.
Which app is better for a merchant with a small inventory of handmade products?
Neither app is ideally suited. Lamnia's SKU generation is overkill, while Scan2Sell relies on barcodes, which might not be available for handmade items. The merchant may want to consider a different product information management approach.
Can I use both apps together?
It's theoretically possible, but likely redundant. Scan2Sell focuses on initial product entry, while Lamnia focuses on SKU generation after products are created. You wouldn't need automatic SKU generation on products already added by Scan2Sell.
Which app is more scalable as my inventory grows?
Both apps offer features beneficial for scalability. Lamnia's automated SKU generation ensures consistency as your product variants increase. Scan2Sell's mass upload functionality helps with quickly adding large batches of new products.
Does either app support custom SKU formats?
Only Lamnia describes this functionality implicitly. The description states that it generates consistent SKUs based on product attributes, which suggests some level of customization is possible. Scan2Sell focuses on barcode scanning and doesn't mention SKU customization.
