Judge.me Product Reviews App vs Squid: Reviews, Upsells & 25+for Shopify (2026)
Judge.me Product Reviews App and Squid: Reviews, Upsells & 25+ both aim to enhance Shopify stores, but their core focus differs significantly. Judge.me prioritizes building trust through extensive product reviews, social proof, and review syndication. It offers a comprehensive suite of review management tools, including collection, display, and leveraging reviews for marketing. Its strength lies in its established reputation and a massive number of reviews, suggesting broad adoption and a robust feature set centered on user-generated content. Squid, while also featuring product reviews, places a greater emphasis on boosting Average Order Value (AOV) through upsells, cross-sells, and various discount strategies. Its focus is on maximizing revenue through a combination of persuasion tactics and customer engagement tools, moving beyond solely relying on reviews for conversion. The key distinction is that Judge.me is predominantly a review management and marketing platform, while Squid is a more comprehensive sales optimization tool that incorporates reviews as one element among many. Judge.me is ideal for merchants primarily focused on establishing credibility through authentic reviews, while Squid is better suited for stores looking to aggressively increase AOV through a broader range of sales and engagement tactics. The massive difference in the number of reviews received - Judge.me's 30,278 versus Squid's 11 - indicates Judge.me is a far more established and widely used product review solution, but also suggests that Squid is a much newer app and may focus on a different type of customer or business model.

Our Verdict
For merchants whose primary goal is to build a solid foundation of trust through user-generated reviews and leverage that social proof across multiple channels, Judge.me is the clear choice. Its extensive feature set dedicated to review collection, management, and syndication makes it a powerful tool for converting hesitant shoppers. The high number of reviews demonstrates widespread adoption and likely a mature and reliable platform.
However, if the priority is to aggressively increase Average Order Value (AOV) through a diverse range of sales tactics, including upsells, cross-sells, and discounts, Squid may be the better option. While it also offers review functionality, its strengths lie in its AOV-boosting features. Given the extremely low number of reviews however, merchants should carefully evaluate Squid's reliability and support before committing, or consider a more established upselling app.
Common Questions
Which app is better for collecting photo and video reviews?
Judge.me explicitly highlights photo and video reviews as a key feature. Squid's description doesn't mention video reviews, so Judge.me is likely the better choice for this.
Which app offers more comprehensive upsell and cross-sell capabilities?
Squid's headline and description heavily emphasize upsells and cross-sells, outlining features like frequently bought together offers, volume discounts, and post-purchase upsells, suggesting it is superior in this area.
Can both apps import reviews from other platforms?
Judge.me explicitly states it can import reviews from Yotpo, Loox, Amazon, Etsy and other platforms. Squid doesn't specify review import capabilities in its description.
Which app is better suited for a brand new store with very few existing reviews?
Judge.me might be more beneficial in the long run because it actively focuses on review generation and syndication. Squid, while offering some review display, focuses more on leveraging existing traffic through upsells and discounts and will struggle to have impact without significant traffic or reviews.
What is the biggest difference between these two apps?
The biggest difference is their core focus. Judge.me is a review management and marketing platform, dedicated to building trust and social proof. Squid is a broader sales optimization tool focused on increasing AOV through upsells, cross-sells, and discounts. The review feature in Squid is more supplementary than primary.
