Our Verdict
Insureful: Shipping Protection is ideal for merchants selling physical goods who want to offer shipping protection as an added service and increase revenue while mitigating risks associated with shipping. It's particularly useful for businesses experiencing high rates of damaged or lost packages. Skio Subscriptions (YC S20) is better suited for established subscription businesses seeking to optimize their recurring revenue model, improve customer retention, and scale their subscription offerings. If you're focused on growing a subscription business with features like build-a-box and automated journeys, Skio is the superior choice.
While both apps fall under the broad category of "Upsell and cross-sell," their specific functionalities target entirely different aspects of e-commerce. Insureful solves a post-purchase problem related to shipping, whereas Skio enhances the entire subscription lifecycle. A merchant could even use both, though they'd need to consider how their insurance interacts with subscription cancellations or returns.
