Hive vs SPX Expressfor Shopify (2026)
Hive and SPX Express are both Shopify apps in the third-party logistics (3PL) category, but they cater to different merchant needs and operational scales. Hive positions itself as an all-in-one brand operations management platform, encompassing order fulfillment, restocking, freight forwarding, returns management, and even B2B order management. Its strength lies in providing a comprehensive overview and insightful analytics for merchants seeking to optimize their entire supply chain across potentially multiple stores and even the EU. SPX Express, on the other hand, focuses narrowly on simplifying the shipping and fulfillment process directly within Shopify. Its value proposition centers around ease of use and quick order fulfillment directly from the Shopify admin panel. Hive targets merchants with more complex operational needs, particularly those dealing with B2B, freight, kitting/bundling, and multi-store inventory management. It emphasizes insightful analytics and a user-friendly dashboard for managing the entire operations lifecycle. SPX Express targets merchants who prioritize simplicity and speed in their shipping and fulfillment workflow, offering a direct integration for creating shipments and printing labels within the Shopify environment. Its goal is to eliminate manual exporting and juggling between different platforms.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a complete, end-to-end solution for managing all aspects of their brand's operations, including complex scenarios like B2B orders, freight forwarding, and multi-store inventory distribution, Hive appears to be the more suitable choice, despite its relatively low number of reviews. Its comprehensive feature set and emphasis on insightful analytics make it a strong contender for larger or more operationally intensive businesses. However, the low review count is a risk to consider.
For smaller businesses or those primarily focused on streamlining their shipping and fulfillment workflow within Shopify, SPX Express offers a more targeted and simplified solution. If the primary concern is ease of use and fast order fulfillment directly within the Shopify admin, SPX Express may be preferable, but its lack of positive reviews is a major red flag. New merchants should carefully consider the absence of positive feedback before committing to SPX Express.
