Happy Birthday Emails by UW vs Sample Products ‑‑ Try N Buyfor Shopify (2026)
Happy Birthday Emails by UW and Sample Products - Try N Buy both aim to boost sales and customer loyalty but employ vastly different strategies. Happy Birthday Emails focuses on personalized birthday greetings with discounts, targeting long-term relationship building through automated communication. Its strength lies in its simplicity and direct approach to customer retention via birthday celebrations. On the other hand, Sample Products - Try N Buy leverages the power of free samples incentivized by cart value. This app targets merchants in specific verticals like cosmetics, healthcare, and food supplements, aiming for immediate sales uplift by allowing customers to try products before committing to a full purchase. The core difference lies in their approach. Happy Birthday Emails builds loyalty through personalized communication and recurring engagement on a significant personal date. This can be considered more of a longer-term play. Sample Products - Try N Buy directly impacts average order value and conversion rates by offering tangible product samples, immediately addressing customer hesitation and potentially driving repeat purchases through product discovery. Both fall into the "Giveaways and contests" category but address significantly different use cases and leverage different psychological levers.

Our Verdict
Happy Birthday Emails by UW is a general-purpose loyalty app that works well for any Shopify store looking to personalize customer engagement on birthdays. It’s a solid choice if you want to build long-term relationships and gather customer age data. The high number of reviews suggests it's a well-established and trusted app. However, it may not provide an immediate sales boost like a sample-based strategy.
Sample Products - Try N Buy is a more niche offering. It excels for merchants in specific industries like cosmetics, healthcare, and food supplements where customers often hesitate to buy without trying the product first. Its low review count suggests it may be a newer app, but its value proposition of increasing AOV and reducing discounts is compelling for the right type of business. If your products benefit from a 'try before you buy' experience, Sample Products is the better option. Otherwise, Happy Birthday Emails offers a broader and more established solution for customer loyalty.
