Happy Birthday Emails by UW vs Instant Giveaways ‑ Best Viralfor Shopify (2026)
Happy Birthday Emails by UW and Instant Giveaways ‑ Best Viral, while both falling under the broader 'Giveaways and contests' Shopify category, cater to vastly different marketing strategies and merchant goals. Happy Birthday Emails focuses on fostering customer loyalty and driving repeat purchases through personalized birthday greetings and discounts. Its strength lies in its automation and integration with existing email platforms, making it a hands-off approach to building customer relationships. It targets merchants seeking to personalize customer interactions and leverage existing customer data to increase sales. Instant Giveaways, on the other hand, aims for rapid growth and brand awareness through viral contests and sweepstakes. It emphasizes social media engagement and leveraging Facebook Pixel for retargeting, making it suitable for businesses prioritizing audience expansion and social media marketing. The primary difference lies in their core mechanics. Happy Birthday Emails builds on existing customer relationships, leveraging birthdays as a touchpoint for personalized offers. Conversely, Instant Giveaways focuses on acquiring new customers and generating buzz through incentivized contests. The apps also differ significantly in their maturity and user sentiment. Happy Birthday Emails boasts a perfect 5/5 rating with a substantial 141 reviews, indicating a high level of user satisfaction and a proven track record. Instant Giveaways, with a 3.3/5 rating and only 8 reviews, suggests a potentially less polished experience or a smaller user base. A smaller user base can be from the app not being popular or that it is so new that not many users have had a chance to review it yet.

It's particularly well-suited for stores that already have a customer base and are looking to leverage existing data for targeted marketing.
Conversely, Instant Giveaways ‑ Best Viral is better suited for businesses looking to rapidly expand their audience and generate social media buzz. If your primary goal is acquiring new customers and increasing brand awareness through viral marketing, Instant Giveaways may be the better option, despite the lower ratings. However, merchants should be prepared to invest time in creating compelling content for their giveaways to maximize their effectiveness. The lower review count warrants further investigation before committing long-term.
