GS1 Assistant (GTIN UPC EAN) vs New G Solutionfor Shopify (2026)
GS1 Assistant (GTIN UPC EAN) and New G Solution serve distinctly different purposes within the Shopify ecosystem. GS1 Assistant specializes in GS1 barcode management, focusing on helping merchants properly assign, track, and manage their GS1-issued GTIN, UPC, and EAN codes directly from their Shopify store. It caters to brands needing to maintain GS1 compliance, prevent duplicate barcodes (avoiding listing rejections), and manage their GS1 code inventory. A significant advantage is its direct integration with some GS1 Member Organizations and its ability to generate GS1-ready spreadsheets when direct integration isn't possible. New G Solution, on the other hand, is a broader ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software focused on overall inventory and business management. It handles inventory across multiple channels, manufacturing management, and SKU/barcode scanning. New G Solution targets B2B and wholesale e-commerce businesses requiring comprehensive inventory and order management, including features like multi-cost accounting, serialized product tracking, and RMA processing. While it supports UPC (barcode) processing, its focus isn't specifically on GS1 compliance like GS1 Assistant.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with managing GS1-issued barcodes and ensuring compliance with GS1 standards, GS1 Assistant (GTIN UPC EAN) is the clearly superior choice. Its features are specifically designed to streamline GS1 barcode management, prevent duplicates, and provide insights into how major retailers view your products. However, for businesses needing a full-fledged ERP system to manage inventory, manufacturing, accounting, and order fulfillment across multiple channels, New G Solution might be a more suitable, though unproven, option.
The lack of reviews for New G Solution is a significant drawback in 2026. While GS1 Assistant has a small number of reviews, they are uniformly positive, lending some credibility. Ultimately, the choice hinges on whether your priority is specific GS1 barcode management or broader ERP functionality. If GS1 compliance is critical, GS1 Assistant is the only viable option here. If you need extensive inventory and business management, you might consider New G Solution, but proceed with caution and investigate thoroughly, seeking demos and references due to the lack of user feedback.
