Our Verdict
Globe Pickup Points & Shipping is the better choice for merchants heavily reliant on European carriers and seeking an efficient solution for printing shipping labels and managing pickup points. Its integration with OMS/WMS systems further enhances its appeal for larger businesses. Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip, however, caters to businesses requiring intricate shipping rule customization based on product attributes, customer location, or cart contents. Businesses like bakeries or flower shops benefiting from local delivery scheduling and distance-based rates would find ShipZip more suitable. If you don't need European pickup points or label printing, ShipZip offers a superior level of shipping rate granularity.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up for a beginner?
Based on the descriptions, Globe Pickup Points & Shipping might offer a slightly simpler setup for merchants primarily focused on label printing and utilizing supported carriers, provided they align with their OMS/WMS. ShipZip, with its advanced shipping rule configuration, likely requires a deeper understanding of shipping logic and potentially more complex setup.
Which app is better for international shipping rate calculation?
Neither app explicitly mentions handling international shipping rate *calculation*. ShipZip is better for customized rules that *could* be based on international zones if manually configured using the carrier API, but requires more work. Globe Pickup Points is focused on supported carriers within Europe mostly.
Does Globe Pickup Points & Shipping support USPS?
The app description does not explicitly mention USPS support, but lists DHL, UPS and FedEx, which are common partners. One would need to directly contact Globe Pickup Points & Shipping to confirm current USPS support.
Can ShipZip restrict shipping to specific states or regions?
Yes, ShipZip supports shipping rules based on zip codes, which can be used to effectively restrict shipping to specific states or regions. One could upload data on the postal codes within a region to control that.
Do either of these apps offer real-time tracking information for customers?
Neither app description explicitly states they offer real-time tracking information *directly*. Given their functions in label printing or connecting via carrier calculated shipping, the expectation would be that the *carriers* would offer the tracking information which is then accessible to the customer via standard Shopify order notification features. The apps only facilitate the shipping process and not necessarily information post shipment.
