GiftKart: Cashback & Gift Card vs Selling Pointfor Shopify (2026)
GiftKart: Cashback & Gift Card and Selling Point, while both operating within the 'Gifts' and 'Gift Cards' categories on Shopify, address distinctly different merchant needs. GiftKart focuses on incentivizing customer loyalty and driving sales through cashback rewards programs, seamlessly integrated with Shopify's native store credits. It targets merchants looking to improve customer retention and avoid complex loyalty point systems by offering simple cashback based on order value. Selling Point, on the other hand, primarily caters to merchants migrating from other POS systems or platforms to Shopify. Its core strength lies in its ability to import or migrate existing gift card and store credit data in bulk, streamlining the transition process. The key difference lies in their core functionality. GiftKart is designed for ongoing customer engagement through rewards, whereas Selling Point is a one-time solution for data migration and bulk gift card creation. GiftKart positions itself as a solution for merchants struggling with discount dependency and seeking improved customer retention. Selling Point targets merchants facing the challenge of migrating existing gift card balances to Shopify, saving them time and development costs. Although both touch upon 'gift cards,' the applications target distinctly different phases of a business's lifecycle - loyalty building vs. system migration.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing customer retention and looking to establish a simple cashback rewards program, GiftKart: Cashback & Gift Card might be the initial choice, *if* they address the current negative reviews and improve their support and app stability. The use of native Shopify store credits is a definite plus. However, the extremely low rating of 0/5 with 110 reviews presents a significant risk. Merchants should carefully investigate these negative reviews before considering this app.
For merchants focused on migrating from another platform to Shopify and needing a way to transfer existing gift card balances quickly and efficiently, Selling Point is the clear winner. Its primary focus on migration and bulk creation directly addresses this need. The 5/5 rating, while based on fewer reviews, suggests a positive user experience. The decision depends entirely on the merchant's immediate needs: retention program vs. platform migration.
Common Questions
Which app is better for customer retention?
GiftKart: Cashback & Gift Card is specifically designed for customer retention through its cashback rewards program. Selling Point does not offer features directly related to ongoing customer retention.
Which app is better for moving gift card balances from an old system to Shopify?
Selling Point is specifically built for this purpose, allowing merchants to migrate gift card balances in bulk from various platforms to Shopify. GiftKart does not offer this functionality.
Which app is easier to set up?
It's difficult to say definitively without hands-on experience, but Selling Point *potentially* has a simpler initial setup focused on the import process. GiftKart might require more configuration due to its tiered cashback options and targeting rules.
Does GiftKart or Selling Point integrate with Shopify POS?
Based on the provided descriptions, neither app explicitly mentions direct integration with Shopify POS. Further investigation would be needed to confirm POS compatibility.
Which app offers a better return on investment (ROI)?
The ROI depends on the merchant's specific needs. If the merchant requires gift card migration, Selling Point offers a clear ROI through time and cost savings. For merchants seeking customer retention, GiftKart's ROI depends on the effectiveness of its cashback program in driving sales and repeat purchases, and on them solving the existing issues with the app mentioned in the poor reviews.
