Geolocation & Markets—Selecty vs Translate Language Auto • EAfor Shopify (2026)
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty and Translate Language Auto • EA both target international Shopify merchants but approach the problem from different angles. Selecty focuses on optimizing for Shopify Markets and Global-e Managed Markets by leveraging geolocation to present customers with the right currency, language, and market-specific recommendations. It aims to provide a localized shopping experience by seamlessly redirecting users or offering manual switching options for currency, language, and country. This makes it well-suited for merchants actively managing multiple market expansions. Translate Language Auto • EA, on the other hand, emphasizes simplicity and breadth, offering automatic translation into over 240 languages using Google Translate. It prioritizes ease of use and requires minimal setup, making it appealing to merchants seeking a quick and hands-off solution for language translation. The primary difference lies in their depth of localization vs. ease of implementation. Selecty provides more granular control over the customer's market experience, focusing on presenting market-specific pricing and offerings. Translate Language Auto • EA offers widespread translation across the entire storefront, including other app content, but relies on Google Translate and may not provide the same level of control over specific market offerings. Ultimately, the choice hinges on whether the merchant prioritizes deep market optimization or broad language coverage and ease of setup.

Our Verdict
For merchants heavily invested in Shopify Markets or Global-e Managed Markets, Geolocation & Markets—Selecty appears to be the superior choice. It offers targeted localization features that can enhance the customer experience and drive sales within specific markets. The higher review count suggests greater adoption and potentially more extensive testing. However, for smaller businesses or those just starting to explore international markets, Translate Language Auto • EA provides a faster and simpler solution. Its easy setup and automatic translation capabilities can quickly make a store accessible to a broader audience, even if the level of localization isn't as precise.
Ultimately, the decision depends on the merchant's specific needs and resources. If deep market optimization is a priority, Selecty is the better option. If ease of use and broad language coverage are more important, Translate Language Auto • EA is likely a more suitable fit.
