Gelato: Print on Demand vs German Drop ‑ Dropshippingfor Shopify (2026)
Gelato: Print on Demand and German Drop - Dropshipping offer sourcing and dropshipping solutions for Shopify merchants, but cater to different needs. Gelato focuses specifically on print-on-demand (POD) services, emphasizing local production and global reach with a network of 140+ production hubs in 32 countries. Their strength lies in enabling merchants to easily sell custom products without managing inventory, leveraging a global network for faster and greener delivery. They highlight AI tools for design and 24/7 support as key advantages. German Drop, on the other hand, provides a broader range of e-commerce services beyond just POD, including sourcing, warehousing, delivery, after-sales support, bespoke branding, and even large furniture shipping. Their emphasis is on providing comprehensive supply chain solutions, offering transparency in pricing through vetted suppliers and multiple shipping routes. While they do offer POD services, it is just one component of their more extensive offering. The personal support ('1 v GD Team') is a key differentiator. In essence, Gelato is ideal for merchants specifically seeking a robust print-on-demand solution, while German Drop is geared towards businesses that require a wider array of supply chain management services alongside POD.

Our Verdict
For merchants whose primary need is a streamlined, global print-on-demand solution, Gelato: Print on Demand is the stronger choice. The large production network and focus on simplifying POD fulfillment provide a distinct advantage. The positive rating combined with a significantly higher number of reviews also suggests greater market confidence and established performance.
However, for businesses seeking more comprehensive supply chain management services, including product sourcing, warehousing, and diverse shipping options alongside POD, German Drop - Dropshipping is the more suitable option. While it has fewer reviews, its broader service offering and emphasis on personalized support make it a compelling choice for merchants needing a full-service solution beyond just print-on-demand.
