Filterific: Collection Filter vs KOBU ‑ Menu Highlightfor Shopify (2026)
Filterific: Collection Filter and KOBU ‑ Menu Highlight both fall under the 'Search and navigation' and 'Navigation and menus' categories on Shopify, but they address different aspects of store navigation. Filterific focuses on providing faceted search within collections, enabling customers to refine product listings based on attributes like size, color, and vendor. It aims to reduce shopper overwhelm by enabling easy browsing through large inventories. KOBU, on the other hand, focuses on visually highlighting key products or collections via a customizable menu, akin to Instagram stories, aiming to improve visibility and reduce bounce rate. The core difference lies in their approaches to navigation. Filterific enhances *within* collection navigation using filters, tagging, and stock visibility. KOBU enhances *between* collection navigation, aiming to attract attention to specific areas. This difference impacts their ideal users: merchants with complex inventories needing enhanced faceted search will gravitate towards Filterific, while those seeking to visually promote key categories or new items with a mobile-friendly menu would choose KOBU. The review volume disparity also suggests Filterific may have been around longer.
