FFN Connect vs Spaceship: Shipping Automationfor Shopify (2026)
FFN Connect and Spaceship: Shipping Automation both aim to streamline fulfillment for Shopify merchants, but they cater to different needs. FFN Connect focuses on integrating directly with a fulfillment provider through the JTL Fulfillment Network. Its strengths lie in managing complex inventory details like Bill of Materials, best before dates, and serial numbers, along with the ability to handle partial shipments and order add-ons. This makes it suitable for merchants needing deep integration with a specific fulfillment network and detailed inventory management. Spaceship: Shipping Automation, in contrast, is centered around simplifying the shipping label generation and rate comparison process across multiple carriers. Its primary value is saving time and money through instant rate comparisons, automated label creation, and tracking updates, benefiting merchants prioritizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness in their shipping operations. Spaceship is valuable for merchants who want carrier optionality and are not necessarily tied to JTL-FFN.

Our Verdict
The choice between FFN Connect and Spaceship depends heavily on your business needs. If you're already using the JTL Fulfillment Network and need to manage detailed product information like bill of materials, batches, and serial numbers, FFN Connect is the clear winner. It provides specialized features for that specific ecosystem. However, if you're looking for a more general shipping automation solution that allows you to compare rates from multiple carriers, generate labels quickly, and save on shipping costs, Spaceship is the better option. It offers broader functionality for merchants who prioritize flexibility and efficiency in their shipping process, and do not rely on the JTL-FFN.
