Its target audience is merchants looking to improve the discoverability of products through a more intuitive and intelligent search functionality. It is positioned as an easy-to-integrate, out-of-the-box search solution that understands customer intent. Our Verdict
Given the data available in 2026, Recomatic Related Products is the safer and more readily recommended option for most Shopify merchants. Its strong rating and substantial number of positive reviews suggest a reliable and effective solution for boosting sales through related product recommendations. Merchants looking for a proven method to increase average order value and customer engagement should strongly consider Recomatic.
FathomRetail, with its promise of AI-powered search, is an interesting proposition. However, the complete lack of reviews raises significant concerns. It might be suitable for very early adopters willing to take a risk on a potentially innovative solution. Merchants experiencing significant customer frustration with their existing search functionality, and who are comfortable with a zero-review app, may consider experimenting with FathomRetail. However, due to the lack of data, proceeding with extreme caution and rigorous testing is essential.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Both apps claim easy installation. FathomRetail states it easily integrates and runs out of the box, while Recomatic mentions easy installation and customization from the theme editor. Without user reviews for FathomRetail, it's difficult to determine which truly offers a simpler setup process, but Recomatic has confirmed ease of setup based on reviews.
Which app will have a faster impact on sales?
Recomatic Related Products is likely to have a faster impact on sales. Its purpose is to suggest related products that will lead to additional sales. FathomRetail's impact on sales is dependent on how much it improves search and discoverability, which requires customers actively using the search function.
Which app is more focused on improving customer experience?
Both aim to improve customer experience, but in different ways. FathomRetail focuses on improving the search experience and finding the right product faster, leading to customer satisfaction with the search. Recomatic focuses on relevant product recommendations, leading to potentially more satisfied and fuller purchases. Both are beneficial, but different.
If I already have decent search on my site, which app should I get?
If your store's search functionality is already adequate, Recomatic Related Products is the better choice. Recomatic enhances the product page experience, providing upselling and cross-selling opportunities, directly boosting revenue. FathomRetail would be redundant if your search is sufficient.
Does Recomatic only use sales data to find related products?
No, Recomatic utilizes sales data *and* dozens of product attributes to automatically show relevant items. This combined approach contributes to smarter recommendations compared to theme-provided suggestions. It also gives you the option to customize and fine tune if you wish.
