EZ Exporter ‑ Data Exports vs Workflow Automation—React Flowfor Shopify (2026)
EZ Exporter - Data Exports and Workflow Automation—React Flow both aim to improve Shopify operations, but they address very different needs. EZ Exporter focuses on extracting and manipulating data from your Shopify store for reporting, integrations, and data warehousing purposes. It's all about getting your Shopify data *out* and into a format you can use elsewhere, offering deep customization for data fields and destinations. Workflow Automation—React Flow, in contrast, focuses on *internal* operational efficiency by automating tasks *within* your Shopify store and integrating with external marketing and operational tools. It streamlines processes, like order fulfillment, customer tagging, and inventory management. The core difference lies in their purpose: data export vs. workflow automation. EZ Exporter is for merchants who need to analyze, report on, or transfer data, while Workflow Automation—React Flow targets merchants seeking to automate repetitive tasks and improve internal workflows. While both apps share the 'Operations' category on Shopify, their strengths and use cases are distinctly different, making them suitable for different segments of the Shopify merchant population. Workflow Automation offers direct connections to more types of third party apps like Mailchimp and Twilio, which is a specific strength, especially for those with established marketing automation processes.

Our Verdict
If your primary need is to extract, transform, and export Shopify data for analysis, reporting, or integration with external systems (like ERP or 3PL), EZ Exporter ‑ Data Exports is the clear choice. The ability to use Python for calculated fields and the variety of export destinations give it significant power. However, if you are aiming to automate internal tasks, streamline order fulfillment, improve customer engagement through automated tagging and discounts, and connect Shopify with your marketing and communication tools, Workflow Automation—React Flow is the better fit.
While both apps have 5-star ratings, the higher number of reviews for Workflow Automation indicates wider adoption, possibly due to a more readily understood and universally appealing use case. Merchants with limited technical skills, and basic automation requirements, might find React Flow easier to set up and manage, but those requiring advanced data manipulation capabilities will prefer the power of EZ Exporter.
Common Questions
Which app is better for integrating with my accounting software?
EZ Exporter ‑ Data Exports is likely better for integrating with accounting software because it allows you to extract the specific data you need in a format compatible with your accounting system (e.g., CSV for Xero). While Workflow Automation can connect to Xero, it primarily focuses on automating actions, not data transfer.
I need to automatically tag customers based on their order history. Which app can do that?
Workflow Automation—React Flow is specifically designed for this. It offers features like automated tagging based on total spent, purchase history, or other criteria. EZ Exporter can *export* customer data for analysis, but it doesn't directly automate tagging within Shopify.
Can EZ Exporter automate my email marketing campaigns?
EZ Exporter can provide the data *to* your email marketing platform (like customer lists, order details, etc.), but it doesn't directly send emails or manage campaigns. You'd need to export the data and then import it into your email marketing tool. Workflow Automation, conversely, offers direct connections to tools like Mailchimp, enabling automated campaign triggers based on Shopify events.
I need to send a CSV file of my daily sales to my 3PL provider. Which app is best?
EZ Exporter ‑ Data Exports is best suited for this. Its automated scheduling and multiple export destinations (including FTP/SFTP servers) make it ideal for regularly sending data to external services like 3PL providers. React Flow does not handle exporting complex data.
Which app is easier to use for someone with no coding experience?
Workflow Automation—React Flow is likely easier for non-coders. It uses a visual workflow builder with drag-and-drop elements. EZ Exporter, while offering customization, includes options like Calculated Fields using Python, which requires coding knowledge for advanced use cases.
