Essential Free Shipping Upsell vs MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Orderfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Free Shipping Upsell and MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order are both highly rated Shopify apps (5/5), but they cater to very different merchant needs and objectives. Essential Free Shipping Upsell focuses on increasing average order value (AOV) and sales by incentivizing customers to spend more to qualify for free shipping. It utilizes a customizable progress bar and offers upselling/cross-selling features to achieve this. Its target audience is broad, encompassing any store looking to boost revenue through strategic free shipping offers. MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order, on the other hand, is not described beyond its name and basic statistics. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume its function is focused on allowing customers to purchase multiple variations of products (likely apparel or products with size/color variations) in bulk. It likely aims to streamline the ordering process for customers who buy multiple sizes, colors or quantities of the same product, or for B2B clients making larger orders. It simplifies variant selection and ordering in a single interface. Both apps share the 'Checkout' category on Shopify, suggesting they both influence the checkout experience, but in fundamentally different ways.

Our Verdict
If your primary goal is to increase the average order value and overall sales by strategically leveraging free shipping offers and upselling, Essential Free Shipping Upsell is the clear choice. The progress bar feature and customizable options make it a powerful tool for incentivizing customers to spend more.
However, if your store sells products with numerous variants (sizes, colors, etc.) and you want to simplify the bulk ordering process for customers – particularly beneficial for businesses with repeat customers or B2B sales – MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order will likely be the more suitable option. It streamlines the ordering process, improving customer experience for bulk purchases of varied products, despite its lack of descriptive information to be 100% sure.
