Essential Free Shipping Upsell vs Kwik COD & Checkoutfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Free Shipping Upsell and Kwik COD & Checkout are both Shopify apps designed to improve store profitability but address very different aspects of the customer journey. Essential Free Shipping Upsell focuses on boosting Average Order Value (AOV) by incentivizing customers to spend more to qualify for free shipping, and offers upselling/cross-selling features. It targets merchants looking to increase sales by leveraging psychological tactics related to free shipping thresholds. Kwik COD & Checkout, on the other hand, is primarily aimed at optimizing the checkout process, particularly for merchants dealing with a significant volume of Cash on Delivery (COD) orders. It focuses on reducing Return To Origin (RTO) rates, encouraging prepaid orders through discounts, and streamlining the checkout experience. This app is better suited for businesses that struggle with COD management and cart abandonment related to complicated checkout processes. While both apps share the 'Checkout' Shopify category, their core functionalities and value propositions are distinct, catering to different pain points within the e-commerce ecosystem.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with boosting AOV and leveraging free shipping as a marketing tool, Essential Free Shipping Upsell is the stronger choice. However, if a business faces significant challenges with COD orders, high RTO rates, and cart abandonment during checkout, Kwik COD & Checkout is the more suitable solution. Its focus on streamlining the checkout process, verifying customer intent, and incentivizing prepaid orders addresses these specific pain points effectively. The 24/7 support also makes it attractive for merchants needing constant assistance.
