EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift vs UpsellPlus Checkout Upsellfor Shopify (2026)
EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift and UpsellPlus Checkout Upsell both aim to increase sales for Shopify merchants, but they approach the problem from different angles and target distinct needs. EG Auto Add to Cart focuses on automatic gift-giving and BOGO/Buy X Get Y promotions, triggered primarily by cart contents and value. It excels at incentivizing purchases by directly adding free items based on pre-defined rules and scheduling offers. The app seems positioned for merchants prioritizing simplicity and automated promotional offers. UpsellPlus Checkout Upsell, on the other hand, offers a broader suite of upsell tools centered around the checkout experience and beyond. Its strength lies in customizing various stages of the customer journey – checkout page (Shopify Plus exclusive), thank you page, and post-purchase – with tailored upsell and cross-sell offers. This makes it a more robust solution for merchants seeking deep customization and control over the upsell funnel, especially those on Shopify Plus who can leverage checkout modifications. The A/B testing and real-time analytics highlight a focus on optimization and data-driven decision-making.
