EasyRNG Mystery Product vs Ribbon | Giftingfor Shopify (2026)
EasyRNG Mystery Product and Ribbon | Gifting both operate within the 'Gifts' category on the Shopify App Store, but they address fundamentally different aspects of gifting and inventory management. EasyRNG aims to boost sales and balance inventory by offering mystery products, focusing on surprise and potentially moving underperforming items. Its target audience appears to be merchants struggling with introducing new or less popular products, hoping to incentivize customers to try them through a gamble. However, its extremely low rating and single review suggest potential issues with functionality, usability, or customer support. It caters to merchants wanting to offload or promote specific or less popular products from their existing inventory. Ribbon | Gifting, on the other hand, provides a comprehensive gifting platform that allows customers to purchase products as gifts for others, without needing sizing or address information upfront. This addresses a significant friction point in online gifting. Ribbon's key strength lies in its ability to enhance the gifting experience, facilitating upsells and cross-sells, and providing analytics to understand gifting trends. Its higher rating and more substantial review count indicate a more positive user experience and reliable functionality. Ribbon targets merchants looking to increase sales and customer acquisition through gifting programs and improved customer experience.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a robust gifting platform with features like upsells, customizable options, and analytics, Ribbon | Gifting appears to be the superior choice. Its higher rating and multiple positive reviews suggest a more reliable and user-friendly experience. However, the application only allows gifting for existing products listed on the store.
EasyRNG Mystery Product might appeal to merchants with specific inventory challenges, such as launching new products or offloading slow-moving items. However, the extremely low rating and single review raise serious concerns about its functionality and usability. A potential merchant should proceed with extreme caution and thoroughly test the app before fully implementing it, or perhaps wait for a future version with improved performance.
