Dropship Protect ‑ Spy Protect vs Geolocation & Markets—Selectyfor Shopify (2026)
Dropship Protect ‑ Spy Protect and Geolocation & Markets—Selecty both operate within the Shopify ecosystem but cater to fundamentally different merchant needs. Dropship Protect aims to secure a store's intellectual property and prevent competitors (particularly dropshippers) from copying product information and strategies. It focuses on defensive measures like blocking spy extensions and disabling copy functions. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty, on the other hand, is a growth-oriented app designed to enhance the international customer experience by providing localized content, currency, and language options. It emphasizes attracting customers from around the globe and optimizing sales within different markets using geolocation technology. The key distinction lies in their objectives: Dropship Protect is about protection and preventing data leakage, while Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is about expansion and maximizing international sales. The vast difference in ratings and reviews also suggests significant differences in user satisfaction and perceived value. Dropship Protect, with its extremely low rating and single review, should be approached with considerable caution. Selecty, with a perfect rating and a substantial number of reviews, appears to be a well-received and reliable solution for its target audience.

Our Verdict
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is the clear choice for Shopify merchants looking to expand their international reach and provide a localized shopping experience. Its high rating and numerous positive reviews indicate that it is a reliable and effective solution. Dropship Protect ‑ Spy Protect, on the other hand, is a much riskier proposition. Its low rating and minimal reviews suggest that it may not be a well-developed or reliable app. Furthermore, its focus on security features could potentially interfere with the customer experience. Therefore, only merchants with extreme concerns about content theft and a willingness to experiment with unproven solutions should consider Dropship Protect.
In almost all scenarios, Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is the better option. It addresses a core need for international e-commerce businesses and has a strong track record of success. Dropship Protect's niche use case and questionable performance make it difficult to recommend.
