DRIP: Returns For Sale Widget vs Protega Post Purchase Carefor Shopify (2026)
DRIP: Returns For Sale Widget and Protega Post Purchase Care both address returns management within the Shopify ecosystem, but target fundamentally different aspects and merchants. DRIP focuses on directly monetizing open-box, damaged, or otherwise non-new inventory by providing a customizable widget to sell these items directly on product pages. It's designed for merchants who want to recapture value from returns and imperfect inventory quickly and transparently. Key strengths of DRIP include its speed of implementation, customization options, and dedicated customer support, along with the ability to automatically remove the item from the site upon sale. Protega, on the other hand, aims to provide a comprehensive post-purchase protection solution encompassing fraud detection, returns/exchanges management, shipping protection, and automated claims support. It's a full-stack platform designed for merchants seeking to streamline their entire post-purchase customer journey, reduce costs associated with fraudulent claims and returns, and improve customer retention through seamless issue resolution. While DRIP helps sell returned goods, Protega focuses on preventing issues and efficiently managing them when they arise across various points after the customer has made a purchase. Despite having no ratings or reviews, Protega aims for a broader scope of post-purchase customer support than DRIP.

Our Verdict
For merchants with a significant volume of open-box or slightly damaged inventory that they want to sell quickly and transparently, DRIP: Returns For Sale Widget is likely the better choice. Its focus on direct sales and ease of use makes it ideal for recapturing value from these items without extensive process overhauls. The good reviews also suggest reliable functionality.
However, for merchants looking for a comprehensive solution to manage all aspects of the post-purchase experience, including fraud prevention, streamlined returns and exchanges, and automated claims support, Protega Post Purchase Care is designed to address that need. Its full-stack approach might require more setup and integration effort, but it potentially offers a more robust and scalable solution. The lack of current reviews and ratings, however, means there is no social proof currently available. Merchants choosing Protega should be prepared to carefully evaluate its performance and integration with their existing systems.
