Digital Downloads ‑ MEGA vs LinkIT ‑ Sell Digital Productsfor Shopify (2026)
Digital Downloads ‑ MEGA and LinkIT ‑ Sell Digital Products both aim to help Shopify merchants sell digital goods. Digital Downloads - MEGA positions itself as an all-in-one solution, managing file storage and delivery directly, promising unlimited downloads and advanced features like license keys and download limits. It targets merchants seeking complete control over their digital assets and branding. LinkIT, on the other hand, focuses on leveraging existing cloud storage solutions like Google Drive, Dropbox, and YouTube. Its strength lies in its ease of use and integration with familiar platforms, appealing to merchants prioritizing speed and convenience without needing to manage file hosting directly. The critical distinction lies in file hosting and control. MEGA handles file management within the app, offering potentially more control and branding options, but requiring file uploads to a new platform. LinkIT removes this burden by linking to existing storage solutions, trading control for simplicity. MEGA emphasizes unlimited downloads and security features, while LinkIT promotes ease of integration with services merchants likely already use.

Our Verdict
For merchants needing full control over their digital product delivery, branding, and security features like download limits or license keys, Digital Downloads ‑ MEGA is the stronger option. The trade-off is increased complexity in setup and file management. This is a good choice for businesses offering high-value or proprietary digital assets.
However, for merchants prioritizing ease of use and a quick setup, especially those already heavily invested in services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or YouTube for hosting their digital products, LinkIT ‑ Sell Digital Products is the better choice. This is ideal for creators selling courses, videos, or other content that's already stored on these platforms. The lower review count should be considered but doesn't necessarily indicate a bad app, just a newer or less used one.
