Deposit & Partial Payment Depo vs Tence Add‑Onsfor Shopify (2026)
Deposit & Partial Payment Depo and Tence Add-Ons are both Shopify apps that touch on the 'Payments' category but serve fundamentally different purposes and target distinct merchant needs. Depo is a specialized app focused on enabling partial payments, pre-orders, subscriptions, and deposits, providing tools for managing invoices, vaulting customer cards, and automating payment collection, including support for COD orders and draft orders. Tence Add-Ons, conversely, is a general-purpose theme enhancement app designed to add new features to a store's frontend, such as a smart top bar, improved payment conditions display, and social media integration, without directly altering theme template files. The crucial difference lies in their core functionality. Depo addresses complex payment workflows and aims to increase Average Order Value (AOV) and sales by offering flexible payment options. Tence Add-Ons prioritizes enhancing the customer's shopping experience and highlighting key store features, such as advantages and payment conditions. While both apps aim to improve business outcomes, Depo focuses on backend payment processing and order management, while Tence Add-Ons concentrates on frontend visual and functional enhancements.

Our Verdict
Deposit & Partial Payment Depo is the clear choice for merchants who require advanced payment processing capabilities such as partial payments, pre-orders, subscriptions, and deposit management. Its focus on streamlining these processes and reducing RTO for COD orders makes it invaluable for businesses with complex sales models. The higher number of reviews, while indicating potential issues in the past reflected in a lower rating, also signifies wider adoption and battle testing over time.
Tence Add-Ons is more suited for merchants looking for simple, code-free ways to enhance their store's frontend appearance and functionality. The ability to add a smart top bar or improve the display of payment conditions can be beneficial for improving the customer experience, but it doesn't address the complexities of payment processing like Depo does. The limited number of reviews, despite a perfect score, makes it difficult to assess its reliability and long-term performance compared to Deposit & Partial Payment Depo.
