Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on expanding their reach internationally and providing a seamless shopping experience for customers in different countries, Currency Converter Bear is the clear choice. Its high rating and significant number of reviews suggest strong user satisfaction and reliability. It automates currency conversion and integrates directly with Shopify Markets.
Shortify: Short Link & Track is suitable for businesses heavily invested in social media marketing and looking to optimize their campaigns. However, its lower rating and limited number of reviews indicate potential concerns about its reliability or functionality. Unless social media marketing is a top priority and the merchant is willing to potentially troubleshoot issues, Currency Converter Bear is generally the safer and more impactful choice for most Shopify merchants in 2026.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Currency Converter Bear is likely easier to set up and use. It automates the currency conversion process, requiring minimal manual input after the initial configuration. Shortify, while likely simple in its core function, requires active creation and management of short links.
Which app has a bigger impact on revenue?
Potentially Currency Converter Bear. By displaying prices in local currency, it can significantly reduce friction for international customers and boost sales. Shortify's impact on revenue is more indirect, relying on the effectiveness of the underlying social media marketing campaigns.
Which app is more important for a new store?
It depends on the store's focus. If the store is primarily targeting a local audience, Shortify might be useful for early social media promotion. However, if the store has immediate international ambitions, Currency Converter Bear is likely more crucial for providing a positive initial experience for overseas customers.
Why are both apps in the 'Geolocation' category?
Currency Converter Bear directly uses geolocation to determine the customer's currency. Shortify could be using geolocation data to track the geographic distribution of clicks on short links, even though this is not explicitly stated in the app description.
What are the biggest risks associated with each app?
For Currency Converter Bear, the biggest risk is inaccurate exchange rates leading to incorrect pricing (though the app claims to update rates frequently). For Shortify, the risk is that the short links are unreliable or the tracking data is inaccurate, hindering effective marketing analysis.
