Crush: Speed & Image Optimizer vs Judge.me Product Reviews Appfor Shopify (2026)
Crush: Speed & Image Optimizer and Judge.me Product Reviews App, while both categorized under Site Optimization and SEO, address very different aspects of improving a Shopify store's performance. Crush focuses on technical SEO and site speed optimization by compressing images and optimizing file names and ALT tags. Its primary value proposition is improving page load times and search engine discoverability through image optimization. This app directly targets the performance of the website itself. Judge.me, conversely, centers on social proof and conversion rate optimization. It facilitates the collection and display of product reviews, photos, videos, and ratings to build trust and encourage purchasing decisions. Judge.me's strength lies in its extensive review collection and syndication features, enabling merchants to leverage customer feedback across multiple channels, including Google, Meta, and the Shopify App. Its high review count (30278) and perfect rating (5/5) suggest a well-established user base and effective review management system. While Crush also addresses SEO, it does so through image optimization which is a more indirect contribution to SEO compared to the social proof and content marketing afforded by reviews handled in Judge.me. Because Judge.me focuses on reviews, it is more likely to impact conversion rates than Crush.

Our Verdict
For merchants struggling with slow page load times and wanting to improve image SEO, Crush: Speed & Image Optimizer is the better choice. It directly addresses these issues through automated image compression and optimization. The power of social proof and customer reviews to drive sales and build trust is undeniable. Judge.me's comprehensive review management system provides a significant advantage in converting hesitant shoppers into paying customers.
While both apps are valuable, they solve fundamentally different problems. Many mature stores will use both to address different aspects of their SEO and marketing strategy. However, if a merchant has to choose one, Judge.me's direct impact on sales and conversion rate usually makes it the more strategic starting point. Over time, Crush can be added to ensure the site continues to operate at a high level.
