ConnectPOS vs POS Variable Priced Productsfor Shopify (2026)
ConnectPOS and POS Variable Priced Products are both Shopify apps categorized under 'Selling in person' and 'Retail', but they cater to vastly different segments of the market. ConnectPOS positions itself as a comprehensive, next-generation POS solution aiming to unify online and offline operations. It offers a broad suite of features including inventory management, staff management, loyalty programs, and extensive customization options. This makes it suitable for larger businesses with multiple locations or those requiring deep integration with other systems like ERP and CRM. In contrast, POS Variable Priced Products addresses a very specific need: enabling retailers to easily sell variable-priced items directly through Shopify POS without creating custom product entries each time. This app focuses on simplicity and ease of use for smaller retailers, such as florists or vintage clothing sellers, who routinely adjust prices at the point of sale. While ConnectPOS emphasizes scalability and comprehensive functionality, POS Variable Priced Products prioritizes streamlining variable pricing within the Shopify POS interface.

Our Verdict
For larger businesses with multiple locations, the need for a comprehensive POS system with robust inventory management, or those looking to integrate their online and offline operations, ConnectPOS is the clear choice. Its extensive feature set and customization options provide the scalability and flexibility required for complex retail environments. However, if a retailer primarily needs a simple solution to easily adjust product prices at the point of sale within Shopify POS, then POS Variable Priced Products is the more appropriate option. It streamlines the variable pricing process and improves reporting accuracy without the complexity of a full-fledged POS system.
POS Variable Priced Products' higher rating, although based on a smaller sample size, indicates greater satisfaction among its target users who value its simplicity and focused functionality. ConnectPOS aims to be an all-in-one solution, while POS Variable Priced Products solves a singular, specific problem very well.
