Commentify: Customer Comments vs Recipe Kit ‑ Blog Post Recipesfor Shopify (2026)
Commentify: Customer Comments and Recipe Kit – Blog Post Recipes both operate within the 'Content' and 'Blogs' categories on Shopify, but cater to vastly different needs. Commentify focuses on fostering customer engagement through comments, reviews, and community forums. It aims to enhance interaction by providing a platform for customer feedback, testimonials, and discussions around products and blog content. Key strengths include moderation tools, nested replies, and optional anonymous commenting. Recipe Kit, on the other hand, is specifically designed for food brands, bloggers, and influencers looking to monetize their recipes. Its strength lies in creating visually appealing and SEO-optimized recipe content with shoppable ingredients and built-in analytics. It enables users to present recipes in a structured format that Google can easily understand, driving organic traffic and increasing sales. While Commentify offers a general-purpose commenting solution applicable to any type of product or blog, Recipe Kit provides a highly specialized tool tailored to the food and beverage industry. Commentify prioritizes community building and feedback collection, whereas Recipe Kit prioritizes recipe presentation, SEO, and direct product sales. The choice between the two depends entirely on the merchant's primary objective. If a merchant seeks to cultivate customer dialogue and gather reviews across various product lines and blog posts, Commentify is the better option. However, if a merchant primarily focuses on food-related content and aims to generate revenue through recipes, Recipe Kit offers a more comprehensive and targeted solution. The difference in the number of reviews (7 vs 70) also suggests Recipe Kit has achieved wider market adoption and potentially resolved more initial usability issues.

Our Verdict
For merchants who need a versatile commenting system to gather feedback, build community around their products, and moderate discussions, Commentify is the better choice. Its drag-and-drop integration, nested replies, and moderation tools make it a solid option for improving customer engagement across different product lines and blog content.
However, if you are a food brand, blogger, or influencer, Recipe Kit is the clear winner. Its focus on creating shoppable recipes, optimizing them for search engines, and providing built-in analytics makes it a powerful tool for driving traffic and increasing sales. It provides more value by targeting a specific niche and providing features tailored to that market.
Common Questions
Which app is better for improving SEO?
Recipe Kit directly addresses SEO by automatically implementing recipe schema markup, which helps search engines understand and rank your recipes higher. Commentify indirectly improves SEO through increased user engagement and reviews, but doesn't offer direct SEO features.
Can I use both apps on my store?
Yes, but consider if they are both necessary. You could use Recipe Kit for recipe-related content and Commentify for general product pages and blog posts that don't involve recipes.
Which app is easier to set up?
Commentify likely offers a simpler setup as it involves integrating a comment block into your theme. Recipe Kit requires more configuration to create recipes and integrate shoppable elements.
Which app offers better analytics?
Recipe Kit includes a built-in analytics dashboard to understand your audience's preferences and the performance of your recipes. Commentify provides some analytics for monitoring comments but likely doesn't offer the same level of insight as Recipe Kit's dedicated dashboard.
Which app is more cost-effective?
Without knowing the pricing of either app, it is difficult to determine. However, the value proposition of Recipe Kit makes it a more cost-effective choice for merchants primarily focused on recipes and food sales.
