Collection Sort & Category |KX vs EX Show Variants on Collectionfor Shopify (2026)
Collection Sort & Category |KX (Kimonix) and EX Show Variants on Collection both operate within the 'Product display' and 'Collections' categories on the Shopify app store, but they address very different needs. Kimonix is positioned as an AI-powered merchandising platform designed to automatically sort collections, personalize product recommendations, and optimize inventory, specifically targeting fashion brands with large catalogs. Its core strength lies in its AI-driven automation and ability to scale collection management without manual work, improving conversion rates and profit. EX Show Variants on Collection, conversely, isn't described with AI-powered features or advanced collection management, indicating it addresses a simpler use case. The key difference lies in their core functionality and target audience. Kimonix aims to completely automate and optimize merchandising for large-scale operations, while EX Show Variants on Collection, based on its name and lack of descriptive information, likely focuses on a specific visual aspect of product display - showcasing product variants directly within collection pages. Therefore, a smaller shop with simple collections may not need (or be able to effectively utilize) the extensive feature set of Collection Sort & Category |KX, but a large retailer will greatly benefit. This can be observed by the difference in focus: Kimonix is built with features like A/B testing and smart sorting, while EX Show Variants on Collection is designed to make browsing collections easier by including product variants on collection pages.

Our Verdict
For a large fashion brand managing extensive product catalogs and aiming to optimize merchandising through AI-driven automation, Collection Sort & Category |KX (Kimonix) is the clear choice. Its focus on smart collection sorting, product recommendations, and A/B testing provides the tools necessary to scale collection management and improve conversion rates. The 'no-code' aspect also makes it accessible to merchants without deep technical expertise. On the other hand, EX Show Variants on Collection is likely more appropriate for smaller stores or merchants that simply want to improve the visual display of product variants on their collection pages. If all that is needed is to improve how customers see product variants without all the AI and automation, then EX Show Variants on Collection is likely to be the better choice. Without further information on that app's capabilities, it's difficult to make a stronger recommendation, but its narrow focus makes it less suitable for complex merchandising needs.
