Codify COD vs Partialy ‑ Partial Payment CODfor Shopify (2026)
Both Codify COD and Partialy ‑ Partial Payment COD apps aim to reduce Return to Origin (RTO) losses for Shopify merchants who offer Cash on Delivery (COD). However, they approach the problem from different angles. Codify COD focuses on verifying COD orders via OTP to reduce fake orders and offers granular control over COD availability (product, location, value). It's geared towards merchants who want to streamline their COD verification process and minimize losses from unverified orders. Partialy, on the other hand, focuses on enabling partial payments upfront, reducing the financial risk associated with COD. It allows merchants to collect a deposit before shipping, collect the remaining balance at the time of delivery, and offers advanced COD rules, configurable shipping rates and extra prepaid order discounts. It targets merchants who want to offer flexible payment options, improve conversion rates, and build customer trust with partial payment strategies. The core difference lies in the payment model. Codify COD offers a standard COD model with OTP verification, while Partialy introduces a partial payment model alongside advanced COD rule options. If the primary goal is strict COD verification, Codify COD is the better choice. If the goal is reducing risk through upfront payments and offering greater payment flexibility, Partialy is preferable. Both apps have relatively few reviews, suggesting that it's wise to test both out and examine their impact on your business for the best experience.

Our Verdict
For merchants struggling specifically with a high volume of fraudulent COD orders, Codify COD’s OTP verification and granular control features make it a suitable option. The focus on verifying orders before fulfillment helps to minimize RTO losses. However, for merchants aiming for a more comprehensive payment solution that includes offering flexible payment options like partial payments, Partialy ‑ Partial Payment COD is the better choice. The ability to collect upfront deposits not only reduces risk but can also increase conversion rates by making purchases more accessible.
Given the limited number of reviews for both apps, testing each within your specific business context is recommended. Consider A/B testing if possible to determine which approach yields the best results in terms of reduced RTO and improved customer experience. The Partialy approach may also appeal to higher-value items or services where asking for deposits is a normal pattern of business, like furniture or high-fashion goods.
