Clay: B2B Wholesale Pricing vs ES Customer Approvalfor Shopify (2026)
Clay: B2B Wholesale Pricing and ES Customer Approval serve distinct purposes within the Shopify ecosystem. Clay focuses on enabling tiered pricing structures for B2B wholesale operations, allowing merchants to offer different prices to different customer groups. Its high rating and substantial number of reviews suggest a well-received and reliable application. In contrast, ES Customer Approval centers on controlling customer onboarding, providing merchants with tools to vet and approve new customer accounts before they gain access to the store. This is especially relevant for B2B, wholesale, or exclusive stores needing enhanced security and customer verification. However, its significantly lower rating and minimal review count raise concerns about its reliability and user experience. The commonality of 'Forms' stems from ES Customer Approval's customized registration form capabilities.

Our Verdict
Merchants seeking to implement wholesale pricing tiers will find Clay: B2B Wholesale Pricing the more suitable option, given its strong rating and positive user feedback. Its core functionality directly addresses the need for differentiated pricing strategies. ES Customer Approval, while offering valuable customer onboarding controls, should be approached with caution due to its low rating and minimal user reviews. Merchants prioritizing enhanced security and customer verification may consider exploring ES Customer Approval, but should carefully evaluate its functionality and consider alternative solutions with more positive track records. Given the rating disparity, a trial of ES Customer Approval is highly recommended before making a commitment. The best choice depends entirely on the merchant's primary business need - wholesale pricing or customer access control.
