Chargeback: Auto Prevention vs Mercado Pago Antifraud Plusfor Shopify (2026)
Chargeback: Auto Prevention and Mercado Pago Antifraud Plus are both Shopify apps designed to help merchants combat fraud and chargebacks, but they approach the problem from different angles. Chargeback: Auto Prevention focuses on automated chargeback prevention by alerting merchants to potential disputes, allowing them to issue refunds proactively and avoid the chargeback process altogether. Its core value proposition is ease of use and a hands-off approach to chargeback management. In contrast, Mercado Pago Antifraud Plus is more about improving overall security and payment approval rates, leveraging customer purchase behavior data to identify and filter suspicious transactions. It aims to validate legitimate payments and reduce fraudulent chargebacks through enhanced security measures. Chargeback: Auto Prevention emphasizes automation and works with multiple major credit card processors. It seems ideal for merchants prioritizing a fully automated solution to chargeback prevention. Mercado Pago Antifraud Plus, while also aiming to reduce chargebacks, emphasizes improved security validation and increased payment approval rates, particularly for merchants using credit/debit cards and Pix. Its positioning suggests a broader antifraud solution beyond just chargeback prevention. The difference in review count also suggests a difference in user base size and maturity.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with minimizing chargebacks through a completely automated, hands-off approach and who don't want to manage multiple anti-fraud apps, Chargeback: Auto Prevention is the better choice. The 'autopilot' feature suggests minimal ongoing management. However, the smaller number of reviews should be considered.
If a merchant's priority is to improve overall security, increase legitimate payment approvals, and use enhanced security validations, particularly with credit, debit cards, and Pix, Mercado Pago Antifraud Plus is more suitable. Its higher rating and larger review count suggest a more established and reliable platform, although the user may need to spend time optimizing the security settings.
