Catalinks vs Categories Uncomplicatedfor Shopify (2026)
Catalinks and Categories Uncomplicated both aim to improve Shopify store navigation and SEO by enhancing category and sub-category linking, but they approach it from different angles. Catalinks focuses on automatically linking sub-collections to parent pages to declutter the main menu and improve internal SEO, appealing to merchants with complex product hierarchies seeking a clean navigation experience. Categories Uncomplicated, on the other hand, prioritizes building a visual hierarchy of categories with icons and breadcrumbs, aiming to provide customers with a clear understanding of the store's product organization and facilitate easier product discovery. The crucial difference lies in the implementation. Catalinks emphasizes a code-free, automated approach, ideal for merchants who want a simple and fast setup. Categories Uncomplicated provides more control over the category structure and visual presentation, allowing for integration with Shopify Translate & Adapt and offers features like dynamic JSON-LD for improved SEO. This app may require more initial setup, especially for older 1.0 themes, but offers more granular control and customization options. The user reviews heavily favor Categories Uncomplicated at the time of review.

Our Verdict
Choosing between Catalinks and Categories Uncomplicated depends heavily on your specific needs and priorities. Catalinks, if it delivers on its promise of easy setup and automated linking, would be ideal for merchants who need a quick and simple solution for managing complex product hierarchies and improving internal SEO without technical complexities.
However, given the lack of reviews and therefore unproven functionality of Catalinks at this time, Categories Uncomplicated is the safer bet for most Shopify merchants. Its positive reviews, comprehensive feature set (including visual categorization and SEO enhancements), and support for both Shopify 2.0 and 1.0 themes make it a more reliable and versatile option, especially for merchants who prioritize visual clarity and detailed control over their category structure.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Catalinks claims to offer a code-free setup, suggesting it is easier to set up initially. Categories Uncomplicated offers drag-and-drop install for Shopify 2.0 themes but requires coding for older 1.0 themes, making it potentially more complex to set up.
Which app is better for SEO?
Both apps claim to improve SEO, but in different ways. Catalinks focuses on improving internal linking by automatically linking sub-collections to parent pages. Categories Uncomplicated provides dynamic JSON-LD, which is a structured data format that helps search engines understand your website's content.
Which app is better for improving the user experience?
Both apps aim to improve the user experience. Catalinks aims to do so by decluttering the main menu and providing a cleaner navigation experience. Categories Uncomplicated aims to improve the user experience by providing a clear visual hierarchy of categories and breadcrumbs, making it easier for customers to find the products they are looking for. The better choice depends on what specifically frustrates your users, and what will align with their navigation preferences.
Does either app work with Shopify Translate & Adapt?
Categories Uncomplicated explicitly states that it works with Shopify Translate & Adapt. Catalinks does not mention this compatibility in its description.
Given that Catalinks has no reviews, is it a good choice?
The lack of reviews for Catalinks presents a significant risk. While its features may seem appealing, it is difficult to assess its reliability and effectiveness without any user feedback. Proceed with caution. Consider contacting the developer for a demo or trial period before committing to the app. If the developer is unable to provide a way to test their app, Categories Uncomplicated is the better choice due to social proof and its wide array of features.
