Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants vs POSify: Customize POS Productsfor Shopify (2026)
Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants and POSify: Customize POS Products, while both technically operate within the 'Product variants' category on Shopify, cater to drastically different merchant needs and represent different points in the customer journey. Camouflage focuses on optimizing the online shopping experience by managing product visibility based on inventory and other conditions, aiming to eliminate customer frustration stemming from unavailable options. Its strength lies in its granular control over variant display. In contrast, POSify is designed to enhance the point-of-sale experience by allowing for product customizations and data capture directly during the POS checkout process. POSify targets merchants who heavily rely on in-person sales and need to offer personalized products or collect specific data at the point of purchase. Its strengths are rooted in its ability to streamline customization workflows and integrate data capture into the POS system, making it easier for staff to offer tailored experiences. Camouflage is more focused on online storefront optimization, offering features tailored to hide, disable, or restyle product variants based on inventory, location, or customer tags. POSify is more centered on the in-person point-of-sale experience, providing tools to modify products, capture custom information, and collect customer data right at the terminal.

Our Verdict
For online-focused merchants seeking to improve their storefront's user experience by managing the visibility of product variants based on inventory levels and other conditions, Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants is the clear choice. Its extensive features for hiding, disabling, or styling variants based on various criteria provide a level of control that is essential for preventing customer frustration and potentially increasing conversion rates.
However, if the primary need revolves around enhancing the in-person point-of-sale experience by offering product customizations, capturing valuable data, and streamlining the checkout process, POSify: Customize POS Products is the more appropriate solution. While it currently has fewer reviews, its specialized features for POS customization and data capture make it specifically tailored to brick-and-mortar stores using Shopify POS.
Common Questions
Can both apps be used together?
While technically possible, using both apps simultaneously may not be necessary. They address different aspects of the customer journey: online storefront vs. in-person POS. Their functionalities don't directly overlap.
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Camouflage is likely easier to set up. It focuses on straightforward rules for variant visibility. POSify, being POS-centric, likely requires more setup related to customization fields and staff training.
Which app has better long-term support?
Based on the number of reviews, Camouflage likely has more established long-term support and documentation due to its larger user base. However, POSify offers an extended trial period, suggesting a commitment to building features and addressing user needs.
Does Camouflage hide variants on the POS system too?
The description of Camouflage primarily focuses on the online storefront. It's unlikely to directly impact the POS system without additional integrations or configurations. POSify is the right choice for POS customization.
Which app is better for dropshipping?
