BuyAfterTry vs Supercyclefor Shopify (2026)
BuyAfterTry and Supercycle are both Shopify apps in the "Payment options - Other" category, but they target distinct aspects of alternative purchasing and commerce models. BuyAfterTry focuses on enabling "try before you buy" options, multiple selling plans, and easy returns, seemingly aimed at merchants wanting to offer flexible payment and risk-reduction options to customers. It emphasizes ease of use and aims to increase revenue by allowing customers to experience offerings before committing. However, it lacks social proof with a 0/5 rating and no reviews. Supercycle, on the other hand, is a comprehensive circular commerce platform. It facilitates rentals, resales, and subscriptions, positioning itself as a complete solution for businesses embracing circular economic models. It provides detailed inventory management capable of tracking individual items, managing risk through ID checks and deposits, and charging for various usage scenarios. With a perfect rating and a small number of reviews, Supercycle appears to have satisfied early adopters. Its focus is on enabling complex business models beyond simple product sales, particularly those involving recurring usage or non-new products.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants looking to add a 'try before you buy' option or simple flexible selling plans and easy returns to their store, BuyAfterTry could be an option if its claims of ease of use are accurate and the lack of reviews isn't a major concern. However, the absence of any ratings or reviews in 2026 raises serious questions about its viability. It would likely be a riskier choice than Supercycle.
Supercycle is the clear choice for merchants specifically operating rental, resale, or subscription-based business models, or those looking to transition into the circular economy. Its feature set is geared towards handling the complexities of these models, offering detailed inventory management and risk mitigation features. While potentially more complex to set up than BuyAfterTry, its positive reviews and comprehensive feature set suggest it's the more robust and reliable solution for circular commerce.
