Buy Button channel vs Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawerfor Shopify (2026)
Buy Button channel and Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawer both operate in the 'Checkout' and 'Cart customization' categories on Shopify, but they serve fundamentally different purposes. Buy Button channel focuses on enabling direct purchases from external websites and marketing channels, allowing merchants to embed checkout links or buy buttons directly on blogs, social media, or email campaigns. In contrast, Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawer is designed to optimize the existing Shopify cart experience, increasing average order value (AOV) and conversions through upsells, cross-sells, free gifts, and other promotional features. Buy Button targets ease of integration and external selling, while Opus targets internal cart optimization and AOV maximization. Buy Button channel is geared towards simplicity and allows merchants to seamlessly integrate a 'Buy Now' button or a direct checkout link in external platforms to encourage customers to buy instantly. The key differentiator for this app is the capability to drive sales through multiple platforms and manage them all from Shopify. Opus, on the other hand, concentrates on optimizing the shopping cart experience. This app offers extensive customization options to enhance AOV and decrease cart abandonment. Its strength lies in its built-in marketing tools and cart customization features, which the Buy Button lacks. The choice between the two depends on the merchant's primary goal: expanding sales channels or optimizing the existing cart experience.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing sales from external platforms and looking for a simple way to embed products on blogs, social media, or other websites, Buy Button channel is the clear choice. It offers an easy way to create direct purchase links and buttons, effectively expanding sales channels. However, given its low rating (3.7/5) compared to Opus (5/5), merchants should investigate the negative reviews to ensure it fits their use case.
On the other hand, if the focus is on maximizing the value of existing store traffic and improving conversion rates within the Shopify store itself, Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawer is the superior option. With its robust features like upsells, cross-sells, and abandoned cart recovery, it can significantly boost AOV and overall revenue. The perfect 5-star rating and higher review count further support its effectiveness.
